Monimoy Bujarbaruah of Noonmati Jatiya Vidyalay tops the High Schools Leaving Certificate Examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam in February and March, 2008.According to the results available, Monimoy is followed by Mayuri Kalita of Soneswar Puthimari Higher Secondary School in Kamrup districtw while the third position goes to Rituraj Hazarika of Ananda Vidya Niketan High School of Nalbari, Jannatul Firdousi from Hatsingimari of Dhubri and Palashjyoti Baruah of Silapathar Don Bosco in Dhemaji district.Altogether 107 candidates have occupied the top ten positions—all they are hailing from Kamrup, Nalbari, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Sonitpur and Barpeta districts. Altogether 1,40,618 candidates have cleared the examination out of 2, 39,606 and the percentage of successful candidates stands at 58.68, a ten year high this time. Last year the percentage was 54.93%. Altogether 17,084 candidates have secured first division while the number of candidate4s placed in second division is 29,820.In the high Madrassa examinations, top position goes to Md Mustafa Ahmded from the Kawoimari Alhaj Nurul Hussain High Maddrassa of Nagaon district. Second one is Shahjamal Haque of Balbari High Maddrassa in Darrang district while the third position is occupied by Aakrarul Islam from Basbari Bangaljhar High Maddrassa in Goalpara district.
