Infighting in the BJP for the Karimganj Parliamentary Constituency that is reserved for SC candidates. According to BJP’s Assam State SC Morcha general secretary Dilip Das, the BJP was defeated in the 2004 Lok Sabha polls in Karimganj as the party made the mistake by choosing a candidate from urban area while 9,34,126 of the 10,07,976 voters of the constituency are from rural areas. Das has supported giving party ticket of Karimganj seat to a candidate from rural area.
