Palash Jyoti Phukan became 1st Voice of Axom
Rajesh Roy of Silchar, Sudipta Chakraborty of Guwahati come runners-up

Emotions ran high when the name of the first Star Cement Voice of Axom was announced on Thursday at a glittering function held at the Nehru Stadium. As the name of Palash Jyoti Phukan was announced, the entire audiences present at the venue cheered and crackers were burst. The 22-year old lad from small town Namrup became the first Star Cement Voice of Axom. Palash defeated his other two rivals Rajesh Roy from Silchar and Sudipta Chakrabarti from Guwahati by a close margin of SMS voting. While Palash got 12 lakh 41 thousand 40 votes, Rajesh got 4 lakh 16 thousand and 639 and Sudipta got 1 lakh 64 thousand 366 votes. Palash, as the winner, got a luxurious flat in the heart of Guwahati apart from other awards. The awards were given to him by union minister of State Suresh Keswani and singers Zubin Garg and Kunal Ganjawala in the presence of NE TV CMD Manoranjana Sinh and Director Matang Sinh. Palash, who became emotional after receiving the award, thanked NE TV for giving him the platform to showcase his talents.
Silchar's Rajesh Ray won the first-runners-up title that include cash rupees 11 lakh apart from other awards. Talking about his future plans, Rajesh said:
Guwahati's Sudipta Chakrabarti, who became the second runners-up won a luxurious Hyundai Verna car among other awards.
Swapna Pathak won the Judges' Special Awrad and Arohan Bordoloi won the NETV Critics' Award.
Earlier, the programme began with a Guru Vandana by Ramesh Talukdar and his troupe.
This was followed by an audio-visual presentation of the making of Voice of Axom.
This was followed by a spectacular performance by Indian Idol runners-up Amit Paul.
Then the seven contestants of the Voice of Axom sang some of the popular tunes.
After this, the Governor of Meghalaya Ranjit Sekhar Mushahari and Governor of Mizoram MM Lakhera were felicitated by NE TV CMD Manoranjana Sinh. Then the programme was formally inaugurated by them along with the chief justice of the Gauhati High Court Justice Jasti Chelameswar.
The function was attended by a host of celebrities including union minister of State Suresh Keswani, MPs Kiren Rijiju and Sarbananda Sonowal, AGP president Brindaban Goswami, opposition leader Chandra Mohan Patowari, AGP leader Atul Bora, former Rajya Sabha MP Dwijen Sharma, Bollywood actress-turned MP Jaya Prada, AGP-P president Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, his wife and former Rajya Sabha MP Dr Jayshree Goswami Mahanta, Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress president Likha Saya and Axom Sahitya Sabha President Kanaksen Deka among others. Grammy award nominee Lama Tashi enthralled the audiences with his enchantments for quite some time in the spectacular evening.
Several noted artists from Assam were also felicitated be NE TV on the occasion. The troupe of Ranjit Gogoi too mesmerized the audiences with a beautiful Bihu dance.
This was followed by the performances of famous Bollywood singer Kunal Ganjawala.
Then came noted remix artist from Mumbai Sanobar Kabir, who rocked the stage with some scintillating numbers like Meri Beri Ke Bair Mat Toro
It is to be mentioned that though arrangements were made for limited seats only at the Nehru Stadium for the programme, later, thousands of music lovers gathered outside the venue to watch the programme live. This gave a tough time to the security personnel and the NE TV volunteers in controlling the crowd. The situation reacted such a point at one time that all the entrances to the venue had to be opened on public demand, who had thronged there to get a glimpse of their favourite stars. Nearly 50,000 people, mostly youths gathered at the Nehru Stadium and were seen dancing to their favourite tunes when Kunal Ganjawala and Sanobar Kabir were performing. The enthusiasm among the audiences reached its climax when Assam's young generation hearth throb Zubeen Garg went to the stage. As he started singing, the joys of his fans knew no bounds.
The three judges of Voice of Axom, Bhupen Ujir, Ramen Baruah and pulak Bannerjee were also felicitated on the occasion. It is to be mentioned that altogether 15,000 contestants had participated in the elimination rounds of Star Cement Voice of Axom that were held in six zones-Dibrugarh, Nagaon, Kamrup, Tezpur, Barpeta and Silchar. Out of them only three were selected for the grand finale of the northeast's firstever mega musical reality show organized by NE TV and NE HiFi the two channels that re-defined entertainment in the Northeast. The Grand Finale was viewed by nearly four crore people across the globe which was telecast live on NE TV and NE HiFi. The live telecast was also available on internet and the GPRS-enabled mobile phones. The programme was also broadcast live on Radio Ooolala.

NE 's reality show is getting more and more popular in the barak valley. Silchar's Rajesh Roy reached the final. On thrusday, at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati, Rajesh will perform for pride. Other finalist are Namrup's Palashjyoti Fukan and Guwahati's Sudipta Hazarika. On thrusday, 4thseptember, NE TV and Radio OOLALA FM will broadcast live. Noted singers like Kunal Ganjawala and Zubeen Garg etc will host the show. Recently Zubeen Garg aslo praised him for him performance.

The name of the winner of the much coveted title will be announced in a glittering function to be held at the Nehru Stadium on Thursday in the presence of a host of dignitaries and Bollywood artists.The wait is finally over. The much awaited grand finale of Star Cement Voice of Axom, the firstever mega musical reality show of the Northeast will be held at the Nehru Stadium on Thursday in which the name of the winner of the much coveted title will be announced. The three contestants who will vie for the Voice of Axom crown are Palash Jyoti Phukan of Namrup, Rajesh Rai of Silchar and Sudipta Chakrabarti of Guwahati. Organised by NE TV and NE Hifi, the two channels that redefined entertainment in the entire Northeast, this show had attracted huge popularity. While over 15,000 participants took part in the elimination rounds of the Voice of Axom, only three contestants managed to sail through to the Grand Finale through SMS voting. The Voice of Axom winner will win a luxury flat, a microwave oven and a mobile handset while the first runners-up will get a cash award of Rs 11 lakh besides a microwave oven and a mobile handset.
