Santosh distributes aid to Katigorah beneficiaries

SILCHAR, Oct 21 – Santosh Mohan Dev, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, recently distributed aid to the beneficiaries in Katigorah block in a programme attend by MLA AR Majarbhuiya, Deputy Commissioner, Gautam Ganguli, DRDA Project Director Naresh Ghosh and BDO Eldred Firing. The programme was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar.

At the outset, Dev inaugurated a maternity-cum-newborn care centre in the block, which was constructed under the scheme of NRGYS at a cost of Rs 5.7 lakh. This centre will be open for 24 hours on all seven days of the week.

Later, Dev distributed aid to 35 self-help groups. Eleven TV sets were distributed among eleven NGOs of the area. Under the National Family Welfare scheme cheques worth rupees ten thousand were distributed to six women. In his speech, Dev said that such schemes are initiated due to lack of employment opportunity. He assured that in the coming days, 38 self-help groups will get assistance. source: assam tribune
