Minister reviews functioning of TE hospitals in Cachar

Karimganj, Jan 2 – State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the progress of work for functioning of hospitals in tea gardens under the public-private participation (PPP) model at a meeting with representatives of garden managements.

He said ten gardens have been selected in Cachar under the PPP model where functioning is yet to start. He laid stress on early functioning of these hospitals and added that to begin without patient department may be started till completion of various civil works, including labour room etc. Each garden hospital would get Rs 15 lakh per annum, he added.

Urban Development Minister Dr DP Goala, parliamentary secretary Ajit Singh, mission director NRHM, Dr JB Ekka, DC Cachar Gautam Ganguly attended the meeting. The TEs were represented by the chairman of the Tea Association of India, Surma Valley branch and Cachar Cha Shramik Union.

The Health Minister also visited Silchar Medical College and Hospital for an on-the-spot study of the progress of ongoing construction work. He also held a meeting with the principal and other staff of the college.

CrPC 144 promulgated: The DC of Cachar has promulgated CrPC under Section 144 along 10 kms of Cachar’s border with Meghalaya prohibiting the import, transportation and sale of poultry and other birds in view of the occurrence of bird flu in some parts of the State.

The prohibitory order has been clamped to preempt the loss of human and avian lives and shall remain in force until further direction. source: assam tribune
