Driver and helper held for selling Army’s petrol

SILCHAR, April 30: The Army has nabbed one, Narayan Roy, driver of an oil tanker along with his helper Gopal Roy for illegally selling petrol and later mixing kerosene to hush up the offence.
A source said, Narayan, a resident of Dhubri and Gopal, a resident of Barpeta started from Guwahati with the tanker filled with 1,200 liters of petrol to be delivered to the Army’s Masimpur cantonment.

They reached their destination on Tuesday but the Army personnel sensed some foul play.
On the face of interrogation, Narayan and Gopal admitted that they had sold 500 litres of petrol to a filling station at Ramnagar in Silchar and were paid Rs 6,000.

Moreover, the filling station supplied them some quantity of kerosene which they later mixed with the remaining petrol.The Army later handed over Narayan and Gopal to the police. A source in police said that they had identified the filling station and proper action would be taken against them. THE SENTINEL
