SILCHAR, April 27 – Silchar Collegiate School recently celebrated its 36th anniversary with a two-day programme. Professor Tapodhar Bhattacharjee, VC, Assam University was present on the occasion as the chief guest. Other dignitaries like eminent journalist DN Bezboruah and the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Gautam Ganguli was also present.
In his inaugural speech, Samar Kanti Choudhury said that this school started functioning on April 24, 1974. Since the last 36 years, this school has contributed a lot in the field of education. But its goal is yet to be completed. Chief guest Tapodhar Bhattacharjee, recalled his school days. He began his career as a school teacher. He said that one should realised the importance of his mother tongue, as it is the heart and soul of human beings. Partha Sarathi Chanda, principal, GC College, said that parents are primary teachers to every child, they should remember that the primary aspect of education was not to get a well-paid job but to become a good human being.
Others who spoke in the inaugural function which was presided over by Sujan Dutta, chairman of the governing body included DSA president Badal Kr Dey, Partha Sarathi Chakraborty, secretary of the guardians body, TK Dutta Chouwdhury and Subrata Paul.
