Santosh confidence on retaining Silchar Lok Sabha seat

CORRESPONDENT
KARIMGANJ, April 8 – Congress candidate of Silchar, Santosh Mohan Dev admitted that the difference between him and State’s Urban Development Minister DP Goala had been ironed out with the intervention of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and DCC president Karnendu Bhattacharjee.

Talking to the media after filing nomination paper, Dev claimed that there was no intra-party fighting in the Congress. Dev virtually stirred up a controversy by demanding clarification from Goala about his contribution towards the development of the valley in the public meeting attended by Chief Minister Gogoi recently.

S M Dev said, inspite of his as well as the government’s immense endeavour, the BG project could not be completed in due time because of regular terrorist attacks in NC Hills.

He further said it was he who pursued the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to declare the Lumding-Silchar BG work a national project. Dev, however, maintained that he would not predict any date line for the dream project.

He said the next government at the Centre would definitely lay special attention on this project.

Expressing cent per cent self confidence about his victory in the forthcoming general election, Dev said he found none of his competitors were worth enough. Regarding AUDF candidate for Silchar LS, Badruddin Ajmal, he said Ajmal has every right to contest against me. ‘I hope he has a thorough knowledge about the ground realities in Silchar.’ ASSAM TRIBUNE
