NH-53 blockade lifted

SILCHAR, June 12: Jirighat Joint Action Committee (JAC), Cachar had imposed an indefinite bandh along the NH-53 since June 10 in protest against the disappearance of metal scrap collectors Dilip Das (35) of Nandan Kanan , Prakash Das (45) of Refugee Colony, Jirighat, Cachar.
The bandh was called to ensure search of the missing people and arrest of the culprits.

Some incidents of violence were reported due to the 5th Assam Rifles assaulting JAC picketers at around 5.00 pm. The picketers in retaliation also attacked Jiribam locals who came for shopping at Jirighat at around 6.00 pm after the AR personnel left.
