SILCHAR, June 13: In a tragic incident, three minor girls of a family died as a wall of their house made of clay fell down on them. The tragic incident occurred in the wee hours of Saturday at Karaikandi part-1, in Katigorah. The three girls were identified as Rumana Begum (10), Marzana Begum (5) and Suman Begum (7), daughters of Fariz Ali, a poor day labourer. Sources said, when the clay wall collapsed on them, they were sleeping. Rumana and Marzana died on the spot while neighbours rescued Fariz and Sumana and rushed them to the Silchar Medical College Hospital. Sumana was declared brought dead by the attending doctors while Fariz was admitted with serious injuries. Coincidentally, Fariz’s wife along with their new born son were staying at a relative’s house. Meanwhile, local people alleged that the name of Fariz was in the waiting list for Indira Awas Yojana but he was devoid of the benefits as he could not pursue the local broker due to his poverty.
