35 candidates file nomination for Lakhipur Town Committee

SILCHAR, July 14: Altogether 35 candidates had filed nominations for the 10 wards of Lakhipur Town Committee which would go to poll on July 31. Congress had fielded its candidates in all the 10 wards whereas, BJP has fielded its candidates in nine wards as they had left one seat for its ally-AGP. But, the AGP, which was not satisfied with the decision, had filed nominations for four wards independently. Out of the 35 candidates, 18 are male.

In Ward No. 1, the Congress fielded Ahok Kumar Lunawat, the BJP fielded Mrinal Kanti Das and Aruna Chakraborty is contesting as independent candidate.

In Ward No. 2, Kalyan Chandra Dey is contesting from the Congress, Anjan Bhattacharjee from BJP, Brajakumar Singha from AGP, Kaushini Sharma from CDI and Sahed Alam Laskar is contesting as a independent candidate. In Ward No. 3, Babita Chaudhury is contesting from Congress, Alpana Das from AGP and Sheli Bhattacharjee and Aruna Chakraborty as independent candidates. In ward no 4, Congress candidate is Mukta Sen, BJP is Chompa Das and independent is Chameli Malakar.

In Ward No. 5, Nepal Dey is contesting as Congress candidate, Abindra Das as BJP, Lalanpui Hmar as AGP candidate; in Ward No. 6–– Congress candidate Manna Dev, BJP candidate Bijit Dutta, AGP candidate Lallengleen Hmar are contesting. In Ward No. 7, Jharna Roy is contesting as Congress candidate, Shibani Sharma Mazumdar as BJP candidate and Tonbisana Singha and Mamota Das contesting as independents. In Ward No. 8, Congress fielded Ashutosh Das, BJP Manoj Das and two independents Kartik Roy and Pulok Jyoti Das; in Ward No. 9, Congress fielded Rabindra Singha, BJP Abhiram Sharma and independent Ajit Singha.
