Srirampur-Silchar Corridor to finish by December 2010

GUWAHATI, July 25: Construction of the ongoing Srirampur-Silchar Corridor is likely to be completed by December, 2010, official sources said. The contract of construction work of the Balachera-Harangajo stretch is likely to given by March, 2010, after getting clearance from the Borail Wild Life Sanctuary. The construction period for it is 30 months.

The entire stretch of the East-West Corridor in Asom having a length of 678 km has been divided into 28 packages out of which the Guwahati Bypass (18 km) has already been completed. Construction on 26 packages of 622 km in length is currently in progress. SOURCE: THE SENTINEL
