Asom Xahitya Xabha for better ties with Barak Valley

SILCHAR, Nov 26: “Asom Xahitya Xabha (AXX) will fight for the greater interest of Barak Valley and further strengthen the bond of friendship with Brahmaputra,” observed AXX president Rang Bang Teron, while he was on a four-day visit to Barak Valley. Teron along with other AXX members was visiting Barak Valley covering the three districts of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi. He was invited by Silchar Press Club as a guest of honour and his visit has been titled “Sadhbhavana Yatra.”

Teran, during his visit to Barak Valley, said AXX is aware of the various problems and issues of Barak Valley and would strive for their resolution. Teron further pointed out that AXX would stage a dharna in front of the Maligaon Railway Headquarters demanding early completion of the broad gauge. The AXX would also seek the intervention of Railway Minister Mamata Benerjee, he said.

While interacting with the representatives of various social, literary and cultural bodies, Teron said, “Language can no more be a hindrance to improve ties between the two valleys.” He also advised literary bodies to submit scripts of poetry, fiction and other forms of literature to the AXX and ensured them that it would make arrangements for the publication of the materials into Assamese and other regional languages. Teron further added that AXX was against all sorts of injustice and discrimination to any community or tribe in the State.
