IB inspector succumbs to injury

SILCHAR, Nov 19: Silchar Police Intelligence Branch Inspector Nilotpal Sarmah succumbed to his injuries and died on Tuesday night. He was 55.

Sarmah was admitted to the Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) after he was knocked off by a speeding vehicle near SP office on Friday. He had gone out of his office to buy paan when the incident took place.

SMCH doctors had suggested Sarmah’s family members to take him to Guwahati but owing to his critical condition, he was not allowed to move. The last rites of Sarmah were performed yesterday. THE SENTINEL
