Administrative machinery paralysed for the second day

Silchar, Jan 6 : The functioning of the offices under the establishment of Deputy Commissioners in the three districts of Barak Valley came to a standstill from Tuesday due to the weeklong cease work or pen down strike by the employees under the banner of District Administration Employees’ Association. Bikramjit Chakraborty, general secretary of the Cachar district unit, in a press release stated that their non cooperation agitation was prompted by the incomplete report of Bhaskar Barua Pay Commission in respect of their pay scale and the refusal of the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to sit for a dialogue with their state leadership.Chakraborty pointed out that the Association has been pressing for a separate pay scale and other benefits at par with that of the Central Government for the employees of the district administration since 1994.The state government despite repeated assurances has failed to fulfil the legitimate demands of the employees.
