Silchar ACS officers observe pen-down strike

SILCHAR, Jan 5: The functioning of the offices under the establishment of deputy commissioners in the three districts of Barak Valley came to a standstill today due to the week-long cease work or pen down strike by the employees under the banner of District Administration  Employees’ Association. Cachar district unit general secretary Bikramjit Chakraborty, in a press release, stated that their non cooperation agitation was prompted by the incomplete report of Bhaskar Barua pay commission in respect to their pay scale and the refusal of the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to sit for a dialogue with their State leadership.

Chakraborty also pointed out that the Association had been pressing for a separate pay scale and other benefits at par with that of the Central Government for the employees of the district administration since 1994. The State Government despite repeated assurances has failed to fulfil the legitimate demands of the employees. ACS officers, on  the other hand, also observed a one-hour pen down strike today in support of their demands. THE SENTINEL
