Tarapur bandh today

SILCHAR, Jan 7: The Save Silchar Medical College Committee has called a 12-hour Tarapur area bandh on Friday to register their protest against the alleged “inhuman behaviour” of the junior doctors as well as lack of medical services in the Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
On the other hand, trafficking on the important NH-44 from Malidahar to Karimganj bi-pass came to a standstill as people of the entire area responded spontaneously to the indefinite road blockade called by various vehicle owners’  association in protest against the government’s dilly-dallying in completing the construction of the road.

Picketers assembled at various points like Malidahar, the entry point to Barak Valley, Badarpurghat, Kalain, Bhanga and stopped all sort of vehicle movement. Supporting the agitation, businessmen of Badarpur area also closed their shops. A similar scene was witnessed in various parts of Katigorah as maximum business establishments and offices were closed.  Though there was no direct impact of bandh in Silchar and Karimganj town, no vehicle could move on the NH-44 and a number of cars in the town were visibly less.
