Tezpur University
Located in Tezpur in the state of Assam, Tezpur University is the central University. The chancellor of the Tezpur University is Janaki Ballabh Patnaik, the Governor of Assam and the post of Vice Chancellor is taken over by Prof. M.K. Chaudhuri.
The campus of the university is located at the Napaam which is approximately 15 kilometers east of Tezpur. Not only is the university campus located at Napaam, it is also the head quarter of the Assam’s Sonitpur District.
Tezpur University is one of the first universities to introduce Master of Technology in Computational Seismology. Besides, it is also amongst one of the Indian universities for having a Department of Energy in the University campus. Not only this, the Electronics Department at the Tezpur University is also one of its kinds for introducing interdisciplinary Masters of Technology course in Bioelectronics.
The first batch of the students graduated in the month of June in the year 2006. Other than the courses and programs mentioned above, there are numerous undergraduate, post graduate as well as doctoral programs made available for the aspiring students.
The courses are offered in the various disciplines in distinct academic divisions that can include School of Energy, Environmental & Natural Resources, School of Engineering, School of Science & Technology, School of Humanities & Social Science and School of Management Science.
All these academic divisions offer various diplomas, under graduate courses, post graduate courses and research programmes. There are departments under these academic divisions that make available for the students in the preferred fields.
The Tezpur University has various objectives. One of the objectives is that the university shall offer the courses as well as promote research in the areas that hold special relevance and are emerging in the field of technology and science. Amongst the various objectives, the university also has the objective of upgrading the professional knowledge as well as expertise of the in service personnel for life long learning.
