Cachar Congress declares list of probables

SILCHAR, March 1: Silchar district Congress prepared a panel of probable candidates for the seven Assembly segments of the district.
For Silchar seat, the panel included Arun Dutta Majumdar, Susmita Dev, Rajesh Dev, Sajal Acharjee and Kishore Bhattacharjee. Urban Development Minister Dinesh Prasad Goala and Parliamentary Secretary Ajit Singh were the unanimous choice for Lakhipur and Udharband respectively. For Sonai, Irrigation OSD Enamul Haque Laskar topped the list followed by
controversial former DRDA officer Rashid Majumdar. Present MLA Kutub Ahmed’s name figured in the third position followed by Nilima Begum and Maklisur Rahman Laskar. Sources said, at one stage, Kutub Ahmed’s name did not even figure in the first five places but after former Union Minister Sontosh Mohan Dev’s intervention the MLA got to third
position.
In Borkhola, former Minister as well as state Congress Minority cell boss Misbahul Islam Laskar topped the list followed by Banmali Singh, Naharul Islam Laskar, Rashida Hussain Majumdar, Intajur Rahman Laskar and Nilotpal Sen. Dr. Rumi Nath’s name was not even discussed. In Katigorah, Pradip Paul was the first choice followed by Bibhabasu Nath, Majuibur Rahman Barbhuiya, Dilip Paul Choudhury, Nazir Yasmin Sultana. In Dholai, former MLA Girindra Mallick was at top followed by Hirak Das, Kamakhya Mallah, Jishu Suklabaidya and Dr. Anup Roy.
