SILCHAR, Jan 10: The disaster management on the American pattern under Incident Command System covering all the relevant aspects of training courses have been successfully concluded in Cachar.
Experts on the management who came from different parts of the country critically observed and examined the preparedness and other necessary agility and subtleties displayed by the Cachar Disaster Management Core Body. In fact, Cachar Disaster Management Group came in for high praise by the experts for their skill, meticulous planning and fool–proof execution. It was the opinion among them on how best the Cachar model and the gained expertise and experience could be adopted and implemented in other parts of the country. The appraisal and evaluation report would be sent to the central government for consideration.
The experts who formed the review and evaluation team included the former chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh former Secretary of the Government of India Sati Nayar, secretary of Andhra Pradesh Bhaskar Barua, Dr Abiz Ahmed, Dr K R Sastri, Arun Sande, BB Gaonayak, Major General B K Dutta, Chirjiv Chowdhury, Chandra Shekhar Rout, Dr Indrajit Paul, Binod Kumar Piparsan, Rupak Mazumdar, Deb Misra, Pabitra Khound, Pratul Kalita and Asim Bhattacharya.
Besides, the deputy commissioners of Hailakandi and Karimganj were also present as observers. It is to be recalled that the Incident Command System group was formed with 35 officers of different departments under the leadership of ADC of Cachar Dinbandhu Deka. This group has already completed the training courses in all the seven segments of the district.
