Row over ISBT issue in Silchar ends

From Our Correspondent SILCHAR, July 22 – The piquant situation arising with the conflict between the district administration and the transport association over running the long-distance buses from the Inter-State Bus Terminus here has finally been resolved with the latter’s decision to agree to the former’s direction. From now on, all long-distance buses will run from the ISBT while only light vehicles will be allowed to enter the city. The deputy commissioner, Cachar recently said in a press conference that private vehicles had been given a long time already. He said that the ISBT was set up to reduce traffic jams in the town. As the vehicles are increasing day by day, the situation has become more chaotic. For this reason, the administration took a strong decision. The administration is also providing facility to passengers, he said. City buses will be plying from ISBT regularly. Share auto rickshaws are available with rates given by the district administration. It may be mentioned that the transport association was reluctant to go there. According to the association, 93 per cent of passengers come to the city from villages. But the rural people cannot afford other expenses to come over to the city.
