Debojit Saha looks ahead on the threshold of a New Year

Plans for a better year ahead
- Singer ends 2008 with hopes of plum playback assignments
Voice of India Debojit Saha looks back and ahead on the threshold of a New Year

Another year is almost gone and we are again at the juncture where we all look back and ponder on our actions in the past 356 days and make plans for the next 365. Though I am not a person who looks back too much or forward for that matter, I do have some plans, which I want to share with you all.

I am just back from a programme in Dhaka — my second show in Bangladesh this year.
The crowd at the Radisson Hotel function was very nice and encouraging. I sang a number of Hindi and a few Bengali songs, which drew a thunderous applause.

It is always nice to perform live in front of a huge audience. A performer can feel the pulse of the people, how much he is liked or disliked. The Dhaka people have always been very nice to perform for and they come across as genuine music lovers. There is also a huge demand for Bollywood songs and whenever I have performed, the demand has always been for popular Hindi songs.

Having been in Mumbai for many years now and having been through the worst, I hope I can now concentrate on playback singing and cut down on TV shows and stage performances. I have spoken to several music directors and producers for playback assignments and hopefully the deals will come through very soon.

I have already recorded a song for a new film called Desire. I will be recording all the songs in this film.

The music director is an upcoming musician from Assam called Babli. He is creative young man and I am sure he will be able to make a mark in Bollywood.

Recently, I performed in a Zee TV Sa Re Ga Ma Pa show, where I met several music directors. They were very pleased with my performance and were keen to work with me.
I am looking forward to hearing from them very soon.

However, for the next few days, I will spend my time with my family and friends in my hometown Silchar. My wife Vandana is there too, for the past few months. It is always nice to be back among people whom you like and love. Also, I will be able to relax for a few days after months of grind.

I will be back in Calcutta on New Year’s eve for a few programmes.
I take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. See you again in 2009! source: the telegraph india
