ASEB’s Sanjiba Rongpi scored the first goal from a pass from Sibra Narzary in the 35th minute of the match. However, Brazilian striker Itaue D’Olivera drew parity for New Delhi Heroes in the 79th minute with a power-packed shot that beat Assam goalkeeper Mintu Sonowal.
Debashis Kundu’s failure to find the net after the striker got an easy opportunity in the 74th minute eventually cost the ASEB men dearly in the end.
Apart from the two foreign players of New Delhi Heroes — Itaue D’Olivera of Brazil and Stanley of Nigeria — Chima Okeri (the first foreign player in India) also drew the attention of the crowd.
The match was locked 1-1 in the stipulated time.
In the tiebreaker, Debashis Kundu and Sanjiba Rongpi scored for ASEB while Nitu Narzary and Birendra Narzary failed to get their shots past the Delhi Heroes’ goalkeeper Rajat Guha.
