Lalu’s adverse comment on Silchar-Lumding BG line flayed

CORRESPONDENT
KARIMGANJ, March 16 – Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav while speaking in the Lok Sabha recently on the Railway Budget blamed the Assam Government for its non-cooperation regarding implementation of the Silchar-Lumding BG Project.

APCC general secretary Pradip Dutta Roy in a statement took serious exception to the statement of the Union Railway Minister. Pradip Dutta Roy expressed concern over the Railway Minister’s statement and termed it as totally false and baseless.

The statement of the Railway Minister could cause confusion among the people of Assam as a whole and Barak Valley in particular. He said Silchar-Lumding BG has been declared a national project and hence it is absolutely the responsibility of the Union Government not only to take care of the necessary funds, but also to took into security-related problems

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh being an elected representative from Assam should take personal interest and create pressure upon the Railway Ministry for giving appropriate emphasis on the expeditious implementation of this project, which is the life line of Barak Valley, Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur, added Pradip Dutta Roy.

The unfortunate statement of the Railway Minister in the LS will have political impact on the prospect of Congress candidates in the ensuing LS polls, speculated Dutta Roy. ASSAM TRIBUNE
