
SILCHAR, April 3: Both AUDF and BJP had chalked out a blue-print of communal riot. This had been alleged by Silchar district Congress today. Waiving leaflets published by United Council of Muslim and Backward Communities in Barak Valley, Partha Ranjan Chakraborty, district Congress general secretary alleged that the AUDF had been trying to ignite communal passion to polarize the voters in religious lines. He further added same type of leaflets with communal provocation was published by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad with an intention to consolidate Hindu voters towards the BJP, Chakraborty said. The names of the printing press in both the leaflets were fictitious, smuggling the evil design of the publishers. It is to be noted that, BJP’s vice president Bimalangshu Roy had earlier expressed apprehension that, the Congress could create a riot like situation like they did during the 1980 general election which saw Sontosh Mohan Dev winning for the first time.
Meanwhile, a police source indicated that the situation in Cachar was quite normal. Already 10 additional companies of paramilitary forces had arrived Silchar and a few more were expected within a few days.
Another source indicated that, Union Minister as well as the Congress candidate Dev had been alerted by Central Home Ministry about possible attack on him. However, district police had till now received no such warning from higher authority. THE SENTINEL
