AUDF fears EVM manipulation

, April 22: Expressing confidence of winning both the seats in Barak Valley, the AUDF however was apprehensive about the security of the strong room, particularly one in Hailakandi’s SS College where, they feared that, State’s Minister Gautom Roy might manipulate the EVM’s. AUDF working president Hafiz Rashid Chowdhury had already reportedly brought the issue to the notice of the Election Commission. It is to be noted that Roy had confidently announced that the Congress candidate Lalit Mohan Shuklabaidya would win the Karimganj constituency by a thumping majority. Chowdhury apprehended that Roy might have chalked out a blue-print to manipulate the EVM’s, particularly those kept in his home town, Hailakandi. Chowdhury further said, people had observed an unbelievable AUDF wave in both the constituencies in Silchar and Karimganj and in the both the centres, Congress stands no chance of winning. Apprehending this, Congress would now resort to foul play. Chowdhury hinted that AUDF had already urged upon the Election Commission to shift all the EVM’s from Hailakandi to Karimganj. Chowdhury, however admitted that in Karimganj, the security arrangement was comparatively better. Chowdhury had also reportedly expressed apprehension about the security of the strong room in Silchar. He said, AUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal would definitely win the Silchar seat and the reign of Sontosh Mohan Dev would end this time.
