SILCHAR, April 22: In the backdrop of renewed attacks on train in Lumding-Badarpur route by suspected DHD (J) militants, Railway employees and staffs had categorically informed the Deputy Railway Manager and local Area Manager that they could not afford to risk their lives as the government had miserably failed in providing security to them.
In a letter to the concerned authorities, the railway staff alleged that the government had not made any security arrangement for the 27 station in Lumding-Badarpur route. They further said that, Dimasa militants had strong base at areas like– Bandarkhal, Damcherra, Ditekcherra, Diyamukh, Dijabra, Wadrengdisa, Phiding and Kalachand. Meanwhile, Area Manager Debashis Dhar Chowdhury had reportedly stated that rail transportation in the trouble-torn Lumding- Badarpur route had been stopped at least at four incidents of attacks on running trains within a span of nine days, leaving a security personal killed and at least 15 passengers injured.
Meanwhile, Barak Valley had been facing scarcity of essential commodities. On the other hand, a bridge near Maruah at Doloo tea estate in Silchar – Haflong road had been washed away following massive rain today morning. THE SENTINEL
