KARIMGANJ, April 19 – The historic Malegarh of Latu on the Karimganj-Bangladesh border, Fort of Badarpurghat and Sonbeel of Karimganj should be developed as tourist centres for economic development of Karimganj district.
A meeting of the NGO ‘Shuruwat’ was held recently at Karimganj with Dipankar Ghosh, president of ‘Shuruwat’ in the chair.
The meeting urged upon the State Government to develop Latu Malegarh, the place remembering the Sepoy Mutiny, Badanpurghat Fort of Kachari kingdom during the British rule and Shonbeel, one of the largest beels of Assam as a tourist spot.
Shuruwat also demanded setting up of the proposed AIR station at Karimganj. ASSAM TRIBUNE
