SILCHAR, April 20: Gauge conversion works in the Silchar-Badarpur-Harangajae rail track are going on in full swing and the Broad Guage line on this 76 kilometre long portion will be completed in August 2010, stated a press release.This information was revealed in a meeting held at the Commissioner Hills and Barak Valley Divisions. This meeting was called by Jauhari to review the progress of gauge conversion in South Asom.
The meeting also informed that the target for gauge conversion in Lumding-Badarpur will be completed before the target date. NF Railway Deputy Chief engineer SP Deshmukh said in the meeting that 95 per cent of earth work, 80 per cent of minor bridge work 70 per cent of major bridge work and 100 per cent of four tunnels have been completed.
