SILCHAR/HAILAKANDI, April 18: In a violence-free polling, 77.7 per cent of 1,018 voters cast their votes in the repoll at Borthol polling station under Lakhipur Legislative Assembly segment where an incident of firing left three persons, including the presiding officer, injured on Thursday. In another centre at Doodhpatil under Borkhola Legislative Assembly segment, 62.8 per cent of voters cast their votes in today’s repoll. Massive security arrangement was made to ensure violence-free polling today in both the centres. At Borthol in Lakhipur, Returning Officer Gautom Ganguly and two observers Raman Kant and Nabin Prakash visited the polling.
Repolling was also violence-free in the three polling booths in Hailakandi district under Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency. Repolling was held today at polling station No. 18 at Bandukmara LP School and polling station No. 88 at Rajyeswarpur MV School under Hailakandi Assembly segment and polling station No. 41 at Dinanathpur LP School under Katlicherra Assembly segment in Karimganj constituency.
