SILCHAR: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has rescheduled her visit to Silchar by a day — from April 12 to April 13 —to campaign for party candidate and Union minister for heavy industries Sontosh Mohan Dev.
A Congress source said Sonia had to cancel her rally on April 12 after a students’ organisation called a 12-hour bandh on that day demanding that work on the gauge conversion project between Badarpur and Lumding and the east-west expressway to Gujarat be expedited.
The All Cachar and Karimganj Students’ Assoc- iation, however, said it may extend the bandh by another day.
