BJP brings out victory rally

SILCHAR, May 18: Braving the inclement weather, the BJP brought out the victory rally after their candidate Kabindra Purkaystha was declared a winner in the Silchar Lok Sabha seat on Saturday. Respecting the administration’s directive not to bring out any rally as the law and order situation was under constant scanner of the police following some intelligence inputs that hooligans might resort to vandalism, the BJP waited for the green signal from the administration which had allowed them to go for the rally on Monday.

Thousands of party workers and sympathizers assembled at the party office at Itkhola today to take part in the rally they have been eagerly waiting for the last 10 years. Their enthusiasm was so high that even the incessant showering could not dampen it.

A jubilant Kabindra Purkaystha arrived amid much cheering and Jai Sri Ram slogan. The rally then began to roll, braving the rain. Purkaystha, district president Uday Shankar Goswami and party MLA Dr Rumi Nath waved to the public from a hood-less vehicle. The rally made a round of the main road of the town and ended in the party office. Meanwhile, Purkaystha confidently claimed that in 2011 Assembly election the State the BJP-AGP combine would sweep the result. THE SENTINEL
