SILCHAR, May 16: “As an opposition MP, my first task would be to raise voice for the speedy completion of two national projects like Silchar-Lumding broad-gauge and East-west corridor.” After winning the Silchar seat this was the first reaction of Kabindra Purkaystha. Talking to the media at the counting halls at ISBT, Purkaystha, who was known as the architect of the saffron party in this part of the country, said, his first priority would definitely include broad-gauge and east-west corridor, two jinxed projects, stalled due to militant activities in the NC Hills. He said, he would raise voice for the overall development of Barak Valley in the Lok Sabha. Terming Sontosh Mohan Dev and Badrauddin Ajmal as seasoned politicians, Purkaystha expressed gratitude to the people of Silchar for electing him for the third times.
