Laskar engaged me to eliminate Mazumdar: Tamiz

SILCHAR, May 12: A former MLA from Sonai Anwar Hussain Laskar alias Rana had allegedly engaged the cop turned dreaded dacoit Tamizuddin Laskar to eliminate his political rival Aminul Haque Mazumder of AGP.

This was reportedly confessed by Tamiz, who was caught by Silchar police from a secret hideout at Ladrymbai of Meghalaya last week.

A source told The Sentinel that Rana would very soon be picked up for interrogation. Meanwhile, Silchar police had arrested two more persons on the basis of the confession made by Tamiz.

One, Ashrafull Haque Chowdhury alias Ronie (30), son of chief executive officer of Nalbari Zilla Parishad Enamul Haque Chowdhury and one Ashique Uddin Mazumdar, an employee of Silchar court, were arrested by police yesterday night.

Ronie, who dealt in scrap iron from Lumding Silchar broad-gauge work allegedly used Tamiz to threaten his business rivals. Sources said, the name of a Hindi speaking businessman of Silchar who also was in the same business figured out in the confession of Tamiz. The call register of Tamiz showed the number of Ronie.

However, Ronie had reportedly defended himself claiming that Tamiz used to threaten him over mobile phone as instructed by his business rival Numuddin of Udharbond.

Ronie, a resident of Nagatilla of Silchar, further claimed that he had filed an FIR against the threat call with Rangirkhari police a few months back.

It is to be noted that Ronie’s father Enamul Haque was the Project Director of Cachar DRDA. Sources further said Ashique Uddin used to help the members of Tamiz’s gang in obtaining bail.
A source on the condition that his name could not be published, said, two time MLA from Sonai as well as a former AGP member Anwar Hussain Laskar had hired two contract killers from Lumding who belonged to the gang of Tamiz, to eliminate Aminul.

Tamiz was at that time hiding in Dimapur and reportedly returned to Barak Valley to materialize the contract. However, for some unknown reason the operation was stalled.

The source said police might any time make a raid in the residence of Anwar. It is to be noted that Tamiz had earlier confessed that he was also hired by South Karimganj MLA Sidique Ahmed who paid him money to kill his political rival Muktadir Chowdhury, a former State Minister. THE SENTINEL
