SILCHAR, May 14: A Silchar Court today sent Tamizuddin Laskar, the cop-turned dacoit, to the custody of Udharbond police. Tamizuddin, who was arrested by Cachar police from a secret hideout at Ladrymbai of Meghalaya last week was wanted by Udharbond police in a case of dacoity he had allegedly committed in Gosainpur area on April 28, 2006.
Udharbond police appealed for a seven-day remand for Tamiz, who belong to Gosainpur area. The court had however granted a four-day remand. Meanwhile, Ronie and Ashique Uddin Mazumdar who were arrested by police on the basis of confession made by Tamiz, had been sent to jail by the court today. THE SENTINEL
Naiding asks for peace in NC Hills
SILCHAR, May 14: Dimasa society apex body Jadikhe Naisho Hoshom president Dethang Naiding said in a press release that the JNH had made efforts and extended help to the district administration of NC Hills for maintaining peace and harmony among all the tribes and communities in the district. He further claimed that the JNH had been in touch with the social organizations of different communities. Naiding said they were seriously concerned with the fact that the culprits involved in the recent incidents of arsoning had not yet been apprehended by the Government.
In clarification, Naiding said he had not commented on the mysterious outfit CRPV as formed by NSCN (K) with local support from pro-talk faction of DHD and that Naga militants had secret nexus with the pro-talk faction of DHD, the splinter group of Black Widow led by Bihari Dimasa and Binod Dimasa as well as a section of the security forces. However, JNH felt that such large scale arson and killings were perpetrated by miscreants. THE SENTINEL
