NEW DELHI, June 3: Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee said the Silchar-Lumding broad gauge conversion work will be accorded topmost priority. She assured former Union minister and Silchar MP Kabindra Purkayastha of this when the latter met her at Parliament office today. They discussed the BG conversion work and the security problems in NC Hills. Purkayastha urged her to intervene in the matter personally and take effective steps so as to ensure that the BG work executed on a war footing so that the problems of the millions of people living not only in Barak Valley of Asom, Mizoram, Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya can be redressed. In this connection, the Silchar MP submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister for Railways. THE SENTINEL
