SILCHAR, June 6: An illicit relation led to the murder of a widow at Andharighat area in Silcoorie near Silchar yesterday. One Raju Nunia (25) had allegedly killed Kaushalya Nunia (35) yesterday at her residence.
Raju reportedly admitted that he had committed the crime though he refuted the allegation that he had any relation with Kaushalya who is the mother of three children.
However, villagers informed the police that after the death of Mahendra Nunia, husband of Kaushalya, the widow had been involved in an illicit affair with Raju for the last five years. Recently, she had informed Raju that she was pregnant with his child.
People of the locality also came to know about it and they were forcing Raju to marry Kaushalya. Raju had reportedly agreed to accept Kaushalya, but on Thursday night he allegedly killed her.
Police came to know about the murder only on yesterday night. Silchar police immediately arrested Raju. Meanwhile local sources said, Raju’s sister was present on the spot during the murder although Raju denied the fact. THE SENTINEL
