World Environment day observed at Lakhipur

SILCHAR, June 6: RATARC, a project of reformed Presbyterian Church NEI, organized and observed the World Environment Day for the second time at Lakhipur subdivision on June 5.
The programme was sponsored by business groups and well wishers from Fulertal and was presided over by Vaulal Chakanpmi, CDO.

However, the keynote address was delivered by RATARC manager Rev V Langhakthang on the subject “Unite to combat climate change.”

The celebration was participated by 250 students from various local Schools like––Emmanuel English School, Pailapool / RMS School, Hmarkhowlin / Edith Douglas School, Hmarkhowlin / Union High School, Hmarkhowlin / Covenant English School, Hmarkhowlin and RPC Staff Hmarkhowlin.

Various activities like essay writing competition, drawing / painting competition, plantation of 350 plants along the NH-53 and cleaning up of markets and public places were carried out successfully.

Emmanuel English School, Pailapool and Covenant English School, Hmarkhowlin begged cash awards for the first and second prizes respectively in the essay writing and drawing and painting competition. THE SENTINEL
