SILCHAR, July 23: Troops of the 11 Field Regiment (Zojila) of Red Shield Division have started intesified patrolling in all Dimasa villages including Kumarcherra, Malong, Dephucherra, Laelong, Kalinagar, Sonpur, Joypur, Sibsthan. Sources said the villagers are feeling some sense of relief as 03x columns of this unit have started their patrolling in the various violence-hit villages. Commanding officers of the 11 Field Regiment have already visited many villages mentioned above.
The 11 Field Regiment in conjunction with the civil administration also organized a medical camp at Dholaicherra village at 288 No. LP School recently. The camp was organized to provide medical relief to the victims of Sonpur village which was badly burnt on July 18 by unknown militants. 145 patients were attended and free medicines were distributed by the Harinagar Primary Health Centre in the camp.
A meeting was also organized during the camp in which the local youths were motivated to co-operate in the activities of the 11 Field Regiment camp at Dholaicherra.
The Dimasa youths have also volunteered to raise a Village Defence Party (VDP) with assistance of the civil administration. The Commanding officer of the Regiment ensured security to all villagers. SOURCE: THE SENTINEL
