SILCHAR, June16: The State Government has guaranteed adequate security cover for the smooth functioning of Railway service between Haflong and Lumding in the strife-torn NC Hills districts of South Asom. At the same time, it has decided to reintroduce the Hill queen train between Lower Haflong and Lumding, which had to be stopped due to insurgency activities in the district since last May.
The train service is scheduled to operate since Thursday. Considering the current situation in NC Hills district, a high level review meeting was held in Guwahati on Wednesday morning. The NC Hills district administration along with top police officials participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, the State government assured its full assistance for the resettlement of villages in 12 remote areas of the district. SOURCE: THE SENTINEL
Cell one bill counter launched at Lakhipur
SILCHAR, June16: BSNL (Cell one) launched its bill paying counter at Lakhipur in Cachar district today. The service introduced by BSNL is the first of its kind in the entire Lakhipur area. Earlier, Cell one customers had to bear a lot of inconveniences as they had at pay their monthly rent at Silchar Tele Mart. But with the opening of the counter today, BSNL customers can submit their Cell one bills in Lakhipur itself. SOURCE: THE SENTINEL
