Memorandum submitted on land acquisition to Cachar DC

SILCHAR, Aug 8: The president and general secretary of Indragarh Grant and Indragarh Block Mouja Basinda Pattadar and Khatiandar Sanstha submitted a memorandum to Cachar DC demanding a halt to the inquiry on acquired land by the Army under BC Nath stating the inquiry was not valid under the Land Acquisition Act.

The memorandum was submitted in view of the greater interest of the people of Mouja Indragarh Grant and Indragarh Block.

The people of the area said that the Army had followed all official and legal procedures of the Land Acquisition Act, 1984 for acquiring land from Indragarh Block village and Grant.

Later, the State Government Revenue LR Department issued notifications on the said mouja but of late some illegal demands were raised on the issue by some people claiming the recounting of Zirath, official inquiries into the process stated.

Therefore, the memorandum requested the DC to stop the inquiry under BC Nath immediately stating it as invalid under the LA Act. The people also requested the DC in the memorandum to publish the earlier government notifications on the acquired area of Indragarh Grant and Block in at least two local newspapers.

The memorandum also spoke about releasing of compensation for the inhabitants of the acquired area of the Mouja of Indragarh Grant and Indragarh Block immediately to relieve them from the economic loss they had to suffer.

The people, while submitting the memorandum, observed a three-hour dharna in front of the Cachar DC office on Friday.

The agitation was supported by local MLA Bithika Dev, local MP Kabindra Purkayastha and the GP president of Bhajantipur. THE SENTINEL
