Agartala is the capital of Tripura is located two kilometre from Bangladesh. According to 2001 census it had a population of 189,327. Neighbourhoods of the city are Krishnanagar, Banamalipur, Dhaleswar, Pratapgar Area, Kashari patti, Kaman Chowmuni, Radha Nagar, Shibnagar, Ramnagar, Joynagar, Abhoynagar, Radhanagar, Arundhutinagar, Gol Bazaar, Gurkha Basti, Kunjaban, College Tilla etc.


Bengali is the common language spoken in Agartala apart from other languages like Kokborok, Manipuri, Chakma etc.


Agartala is connected by Air as well as road. Aragtala Airport is the most busy airport among other airports of the North East.

About Agartala
Agaratla is located at the border of Bangladesh just two Kms apart. Agartala is the capital of Tripura that is situated in the northeastern state. This wonderful city is also known as princely state and the supremacy of Tripura palace is the attraction of Agartala. Bengalis dominates the whole city and this is the only language there. The festival of Durga Puja is celebrated with great happiness and joy. Another festival, which is celebrated with immense pleasure at tripura, is Saraswati Puja. The best suitable time to visit such a great place is from October to March.
Climate of Agartala is mostly rainfall and is humid subtropical. In the month of April to October, hot and rainy season is in full mood. Normally 28 degree is the temperature of the city, which normally fluctuates with every rainfall. Therefore, temperature fluctuates quite normally since rainfall is the proactive season of all. Winters are for very limited period, which starts from mid November and stays until the end of March. In winter, the temperate stays around 18-degree centigrade.
There are so many places to visit at Agartala, which includes Tribal Museum, Sukanta Academy, State Museum, Ujjavanta Palace, MBB College, Portuguese Church, Jaggannath Temple, Venuban Vihar, Handicraft Designing Center and many more.
The founder of this wonderful planned city Agartala is done by Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur. In terms of infrastructure, the whole town was restructured. It was restructured with many strong roads and marketing premises. Now Agartala has many places where people can spend their Sunday along with their members and can enjoy every minute of it. Common language of Agartala is Bengali. Kokborok, Nepali, Manipuri, Hindi, English, Chakma are some of the other language spoken at Agartala. Apart from great monuments and wonderful city, another important thing of Agartala is different community people of diverse culture and background has filled this city.
