SILCHAR, Sept 12: Excise Minister Gautam Roy today handed over Rs 1 lakh to Piyush Roy, whose teenaged son Promotosh had committed suicide on Wednesday following alleged harassment by his employer Lun Kanan Jain, a garment seller.
Roy along with Karimganj MP Lalit Mohan Shuklabaidya went to the residence of Piyush Roy at Kanakpur in Silchar this morning where the shraddha ceremony of Promotosh was being held. Roy condoled the death of the teenager and consoled the bereaved family. He, however, maintained that Silchar police has done its duty by arresting Jain and one of his employees who had threatened the deceased with dire consequence as he happened to see them murdering someone. Police, however, was clueless about the murder as alleged in the suicide note. THE SENTINEL
