Memorandum against existing Indian Red Cross Society committee submitted

SILCHAR, Oct 21: Representatives of Silchar citizens today submitted a memorandum to the Cachar DC stating various problems of the Silchar branch of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS). It was stated in the memorandum that the hospital was out of service for nearly 18 days.

Sources said that patients were denied treatment by the IRCS due to non-availability of doctors within the hospital. It was also stated in the memorandum that the hospital was not a private property of any committee and, therefore, the closure of the hospital without any logical reason was taken as an offence against the weaker sections of the society.

Through the memorandum, the people here demanded immediate steps to be taken to grant new membership to citizens who have been applying for it.

On the other hand, a separate meeting was held today at the Silchar Gandhi Bhavan by the existing committee of IRCS. Moreover, the committee, in the meeting, was trying to wash off its hands from the allegations by saying that the State Headquarters was not giving permission to hold AGM maintaining the status quo.
