Bithika inaugurates classroom-cum-hall

SILCHAR, Nov 20: Silchar MLA Bithika Dev inaugurated a class room at DNNK Girls’ School here today. The room has been named after Kamini Kumar Chanda, who donated the land of the school as well as the founder president of the governing body of the school. Sources said DNNK Girls’ School is the first institution for girls in Silchar.

School principal Swastika Das, while inaugurating the programme, said that Bithika Dev took special initiatives to sanction Rs 6 lakh in the 12th Finance Commission. She said Rs 5 lakh out of the sanctioned money has been spent on the huge classroom-cum-hall and with the remaining Rs 1 lakh, a girls common room would be constructed.

The meeting was presided over by president of the governing body of the school Badal Dey and Deputy Commissioner Gautam Ganguli. Renowned academician as well as former student of the DNNK school Anurupa Biswas also spoke on the occasion. THE SENTINEL
