“Career CliniQ” at Silchar Press Club

SILCHAR, Nov 15: A press conference was organized by the career counselling unit “Career CliniQ” at Silchar Press Club, today. The agenda of the conference was “Fraudulent Practices by Educational Establishments”.

The event was organized to flag off the month-long awareness campaign initiated by Career CliniQ for the interest of the management aspirants in Cachar district. Every year thousands of students move out of the region and enrol themselves in various management institutes of the country. Misleading information about placement and infrastructure facilities lure the management aspirants to be trapped by the unscrupulous management institutes. Sometimes, it is seen that institutes set up their temporary admission offices in the city at some hotels and guest houses and disappear after admissions. Some institutes even ask candidates to submit their original certificates. Such fraudulent practices are currently common.

Recently, on November 9, the UGC has come out with a list of around 44 private State universities which cannot affiliate an institution or college. Such universities like Sikkim Manipal University and ICFAI with several study centres are being run across the Northeastern region. The UGC also published a list of fake universities and institutes in their official website. Career ClinQ, whose sole objective is to guide students towards better career decisions, is executing a month-long career awareness programme at various government colleges of the State.

In the press conference today, counsellor Navmita Bhattacharjee requested the students to consult career doctors of Career CliniQ located across the State. These career doctors are also available on select dates at government colleges of various district across the State. The colleges with the support of UGC run the career counselling cells and quite often conduct seminars and workshops on career-related issues. The career doctors render their services to the colleges in this regard. Students have been requested to remain in touch careerline of the Career CliniQ at 9207011653 and seek basic information about various colleges and institutes.

In another development, Career CliniQ officials in the second half of the meeting today declared its joint venture with JC CAT. Today’s press conference was attended by Navmita Bhattacharjee, Prasenjit Chowdhury and others on behalf of Career CliniQ. THE SENTINEL
