NEW DELHI, Nov 22: In reply to a question put by Silchar MP Kabindra Purkayastha, Union Minister for Urban Development Saugata Roy said that the Assam Government would complete the Silchar Storm Water Drainage Scheme within three years. Roy informed the Lok Sabha recently that the Centre had already sanctioned funds for the Storm Water Drainage scheme but the work could not progress due to obstacles in operation.
The Union Minister further said, “The first term of the UPA Government sanctioned Rs 176 crore for the construction of the project in 2007 and according to our sources, Rs 17 crore was released for the first phase of the work.” THE SENTINEL
