Cachar DC Gautam Ganguly under scanner

GUWAHATI, Dec 7: State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Bhumidhar Barman, on behalf of the Chief Minister, informed the House today that the government had received allegations against Cachar Deputy Commissioner Gautam Ganguly and the case was very much under examination and, therefore, the question of CBI inquiry does not arise. Barman further told the House that the government was also aware of the fact that Ganguly was holding charge as deputy commissioner of Cachar since June 5, 2006.

Barman informed the matter to the House in reply to a question put by BJP legislator Rumi Nath regarding the steps taken by the government against the allegations levelled on Ganguly and as to why the government was not instigating a CBI inquiry into the case. THE SENTINEL
