Cachar development progress report reviewd at DLCC meet

SILCHAR, Dec 7: The meeting of the district level coordination committee was held today under the presidentship of Cachar Deputy Commissioner Gautam Ganguly. The security related matters as well as progress in development works were taken into account for proper appraisal.

It was revealed by the PWD (R) rural division that the work on the improvement of road from Udharband to Kumbhirgram was almost completed and the progress of the road connectivity from Khambar Bazar to Borkhola was progressing well with finance from NATRIP.

Indian Oil Corporation official present in the meeting stated that the stock of petroleum products was sufficient to meet the demands of consumers at least for a month. Airport Authority of India related the information that the infrastructure for the night landing of aircraft at Silchar Airport was complete. The extension of runway and installation of instrument landing system was also a part of the infrastructure. Operation of flights during night was awaiting necessary permission from the director general of civil aviation.
In regard to the acquisition of land for the Army at the controversial Indragarh grant, the DC said that the entire process for the same was cancelled by the State Government. He, however, said if the Army desired to have land then a fresh move could be made for it.

The meeting was attended among others by the officials of the Army, BSF, ASEB, Home Guard, BRTF and ONGC besides ADC BC Nath and ASP Jayanta Chowdhury and SDO (civil) of Lakhipur Subdivision Baranya Das. THE SENTINEL
