Dacoits strike Silchar-bound Cachar Express train

SILCHAR, Dec 7: In yet another case of dacoity, a gang of three miscreants once again looted the passengers of the Silchar-bound Cachar Express train last night. It was reported that miscreants alighted the train in between Lungting and Mupha, which happens to be the same place when the last dacoity took place, and robbed the passengers after injuring TC Amit Kumar with the butt of a pistol.

Sources said the miscreants also snatched Rs 1,300 from Kumar and just as the train was about to reach Maibong station, they disappeared into the dark. This incident has created much sensation among the people. The Badarpur unit of the Mazdoor Union has threatened the NF Railway authority to take immediate steps for providing adequate security in the trains or they would refrain from duties along the Lumding-Silchar route.
In the earlier incident, some miscreants robbed 48 passengers on the same train. THE SENTINEL
